in that joke
you didn't really mean to say
(well not on radio anyway).
It's in the expectation
that a half hearted 'But I'm not racist' apology
should be accepted
with 'good grace'
because after all

everyone makes mistakes
and though the comments,
you concede, were racial vilification
we can in no way conclude that
you
vilified
an entire race.
